Correct footwear is essential to maintain healthy feet. Try to stick to the following guidelines. Obviously there will be occasions when you will need to wear a "dress" shoe but keep it to a minimum and do not do any walking in them.
'Lace up' shoes are best as they are held securely on the foot. If you cannot manage laces try to choose a buckle or velcro fastening shoe. Slip on shoes are best avoided as they are made to fit more tightly on the foot and they are usually a bad shape at the toe area.
Soles should be of soft rubber to provide warmth and cushioning for the foot.
Avoid shoes with excess stitching on the top as the seams inside may
rub the toes.
